What's it like to work as a cleaner in Amsterdam?

No two days are the same. One day you’ll be working at a luxury hotel in downtown Amsterdam, and the next you’ll be helping to create a fresh work environment at an office in the Zuidas or at a nearby healthcare facility.

As a cleaner at EW, you work independently, but you’re never on your own. You’re part of a close-knit team where we help one another. Since you often work during the day or during business hours, you’re the face of the location. A friendly greeting to a guest or coworker is, of course, part of the job!

Here's what you can expect from EW:

    • Good salary: You’ll always be paid fairly in accordance with the cleaning industry collective bargaining agreement.
    • Flexibility: Work hours that fit your lifestyle (perfect for balancing with school or family).
    • A Great Start: A clear onboarding period and excellent guidance from day one.
    • Career Growth: Free education and training programs to help you advance to roles such as foreman or team leader.
    • Work close to home: We always look for a location that’s easy for you to get to (by bike or public transportation).

Where can you find work as a cleaner in Amsterdam?

You can work for EW as a cleaner at various locations in Amsterdam. So there’s always a position that fits your preferences and availability.

Luxury hotels: EW is the leading specialist in hotel housekeeping. You’ll prepare rooms, hallways, and lobbies for new guests and directly contribute to their Amsterdam experience.

Modern office spaces: A clean office is a more pleasant place to work. You ensure that workspaces, meeting rooms, and restrooms are kept clean and tidy.

Healthcare: Hygiene is of the utmost importance here. You help ensure a safe and clean environment for vulnerable residents, patients, and healthcare staff.

And much more: From educational institutions to other high-traffic locations.

Here are a few of the locations where you might end up working with EW:

How much does a cleaner earn in Amsterdam?

Your salary is set forth in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Cleaning and Window Cleaning Industry. That way, you know exactly how much you earn and what benefits are included.

If you work as a cleaner, you earn at least €15.52 per hour under the collective bargaining agreement.

Your salary depends on the pay grade for your position and your years of service. The exact amount depends on your age and the position. We’ll calculate this for you right away during the introductory interview.

In addition to your regular hourly wage, you will receive:

    • 8% vacation pay
    • A year-end bonus
    • Paid vacation days and a good retirement plan
    • Bonuses for working during special hours (such as in the evening or on weekends)
    • Travel Expense Reimbursement (if applicable)

In addition, EW offers several perks if you work as a cleaner in Amsterdam:

    • A day off on your birthday
    • Education and Training
    • Career Advancement Opportunities at EW
    • Discount on Group Insurance Policies
    • A pleasant work environment with dedicated colleagues
    • Opportunities to work close to home
