At EW, we have colleagues from about 100 different nationalities. That cultural diversity enriches our organization every day. Effective communication plays an important role in this. That’s why our internal communication app, H.appy, is available in nine different languages. This allows everyone to read EW news and messages from colleagues in the language that suits them best. In this way, we ensure that information is accessible to everyone and that everyone feels involved.
At the same time, we encourage colleagues who want to learn Dutch. Speaking Dutch isn’t just helpful in the workplace—it’s also useful outside of it: for building a social network, having important conversations, reading official letters, and finding your way in Dutch society. That’s why we offer support to colleagues who want to improve their Dutch. In this way, we work together to build an inclusive work environment and help each other move forward.

As a facilities services provider, we take our social responsibility seriously. Through social return initiatives, we actively provide opportunities to people for whom employment is not a given. A great example of this is our The Hague region, where one in four of our colleagues is now a proud social returner. This shows just how much is possible when you invest in people.
To create even more opportunities, we are collaborating with the UWV and the Schakelpunt Landelijke Werkgevers. In all 32 employment regions, we are committed to helping people who are distanced from the labor market find suitable jobs. In this way, we contribute to a labor market in which everyone can participate.
Recognized as a socially responsible employer
Our commitment to inclusive employment has also been recognized. EW has achieved Level 3 on the Social Entrepreneurship Performance Ladder (PSO). This is the highest level of recognition for organizations that make an above-average contribution to employment opportunities for people who face barriers to the labor market.
During the audit, it became clear just how much social entrepreneurship is second nature at EW. From Ukrainian colleagues and people receiving Wajong benefits to interns and other new talent: everyone is given the opportunity to grow. Personal guidance, a tailored approach, and a focus on growth are central to this. This recognition confirms that we work not only with a focus on results, but above all with a focus on people.
Feeling at home starts on day one
A good start makes all the difference. That’s why we put a lot of effort into welcoming new colleagues. Every week, dozens of new employees join EW across the country. A new job is exciting, but it can also be nerve-wracking. Everything is new, and you often don’t know many people yet.
Through our buddy program, we make sure new colleagues feel welcome from their very first day on the job. A buddy helps you get started, answers your questions, and shows you the ropes. This helps you feel at home faster, get to know your colleagues, and start working with confidence.
